John Johnson began his undergraduate studies at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, New York. Although he initially considered pursuing a science degree, John realized a strong passion for the performing arts.

“When I'm on stage inhabiting a character or someone else's life, I'm about to connect with the audience. And draw them into someone else's life and that helps me to connect with myself and with other people,” says John.

Mark Rubianes has been interested in computers for his entire life, and finds building circuits to be both a logistical challenge and a creative outlet.

Following four years in the military, Mark enrolled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Community College. Now he’s studying computer engineering at North Carolina State University with a Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.
