Lansdowne, VA —Today the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation announced the 47 recipients of its Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, who will each receive up to $40,000 annually for a maximum of three years to complete their bachelor’s degree.

Making an Impact: Cooke Scholar Ethan Ambrose

Ethan proved that he could think big, work hard, and achieve during his high school years. After being awarded the Cooke College Scholarship earlier this year, he continues to apply that determination to his neurobiology studies at Harvard University.

"I want to be the sort of doctor that looks to make healthcare accessible for all," says Ethan. "I realize that there's so many inequities ... leveling that playing field is something that I definitely want to do."

Cooke Scholar Selena: Conducting Research and Keeping an Open Mind

Selena Zhang has had a busy two years. In 2015 she was the winner of California’s Stem Cell Agency’s creativity program blog competition. The program required her to attend lectures and complete experiments all while translating her thoughts and experiences into written form.

In 2016, Selena applied and was selected as a Cooke College Scholar. “Being a Cooke Scholar is much more than I thought it would be. ... It's a lot of people who had that same passion for making a difference. Being a Cooke Scholar is an amazing part of my life”.

Making Global Connections: Santiago Tobar Potes

Cooke Scholar Santiago Tobar Potes was born in Cali, Colombia before moving to Florida. In high school, he attended the School for Advanced Studies, Wolfson campus in downtown Miami. Now he's on the move again –  this fall, Santiago began classes at Columbia University.

Baltimore High School Senior Kathy Le Receives Cooke College Scholarship

Kathy Le is a senior at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Poly) whose research on genetic mutation led her to be named a semifinalist in the 2016 Intel Science Talent Search.

LANSDOWNE, VA – The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2014 Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. This cohort is the largest in the program’s 13-year history, with 85 finalists selected from 3,705 applications representing 737 community colleges from 48 states, two U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia.
