After serving for 13 years in the U.S. Navy, Joshua DuFault decided to begin studying computer science at El Camino College.

“I have a background in data analysis from my time in the military, and what I’m really interested about computer science is where it’s going with the ability to analyze, piece together big data and do things that have never been done before.”

As a non-traditional student, Joshua says being a Cooke Scholar means stability for him and his family. Joshua was accepted into several prestigious universities including Yale, Rice, and Dartmouth. He chose to use the Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship to continue his computer science studies at Stanford University.

He also has a message for current community college students:

“See how far you can go! Apply today.”
