In The Huffington Post, Harold O. Levy Calls for Celebrating Scholars

In his latest op-ed for The Huffington Post, Cooke Foundation Executive Director Harold O. Levy explores the dichotomy between recognition of student athletes and their academically talented peers.

“Highly ranked high school athletes are the subject of competitive bidding by deputy coaches,” writes Levy. “Academic recruiters for most colleges don’t seek out academic superstars. There’s usually not even any special effort made to attract the low-income students who have — against all odds — attained stellar grade point averages and standardized test scores.”
