Harold Levy on Why State Tests Are Not So Standard

In an opinion piece for The Washington Post, Executive Director Harold Levy shared his thoughts on the disappointing disparities among the various testing standards of individual states. After noting that Georgia’s learning standards trail New York’s by four full grade levels, Mr. Levy declares:

“We use the state tests to equalize grades among schools, because different schools employ very different standards in their grading. However, it has become clear to me that we can no longer use state tests without a separate equalizer among the tests themselves…”
