The Philadelphia native, who attends the University of Pennsylvania, was selected out of 374 nominees from six countries by a distinguished panel of sculptors and artists for the prestigious art award. Each recipient will participate in the Grounds For Sculpture’s Fall/Winter Exhibition in Hamilton, NJ and will also be featured in the ISC’s Sculpture Magazine.

Scotty primarily sculpts downed trees, bringing them to his studio in an attempt to preserve their original form. “I want to embrace an object or experience for what it actually is, rather than masking it with secondary meanings, associations, or memories,” Scotty writes on his website. “I embrace hard work, long hours, and routine. My joy exists in the effort.”

Scotty’s hard work seems to be paying off. Congratulations!
