2014 University Reputation Ranking

THE

Times Higher Education (THE) recently released their World Reputation Ranking for 2014, and the U.S. did pretty well. Huffington Post’s Tyler Kingkade wrote to celebrate occupying 13 of the top 20 slots by starting his piece, “Hooray, America!”

America dominated the top three with Harvard leading the pack, followed by MIT and Stanford. THE utilizes an “invitation-only academic opinion survey” for such a feat, borrowing UN data, translating into 10 languages, and spreading across disciplines for the most accurate and fairest results.

On a more level-headed note, while we all enjoy a good ranking—and it’s always fun to recognize a name or two—prestige is hardly the top factor to consider when choosing a school. See why we think personal fit, rigor, extracurriculars, and finances should top your list, and remember to fully consider every aspect of a school before sending in your application.
