Scholar Spotlight: Yasmine Arrington Defies Odds and Gives Back

We were thrilled to read today’s profile on Jack Kent Cooke Scholar and 2013 Matthew J. Quinn Prize recipient Yasmine Arrington on BlackGivesBack.com. Yasmine first joined the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation community as a Young Scholar and is now a College Scholar in her junior year at Elon University in North Carolina. The Washington DC native is the founder of ScholarCHIPS, which provides college scholarships to graduating high school seniors with a parent in prison. Yasmine has been recognized as an AXA National Achiever, an Abramson Foundation Scholar, a Washington Redskins College Success Foundation Leadership 1000 Scholar, a 2012 BET Black Girls Rock M.A.D. (Making a Difference) Girl, and a Linowes Leadership “Unsung Heroes Award” Youth Recipient.
